New Revised Proposal: Mind Control

I have decided to change my topic to mind control. I feel the media is constantly dumbing down our society through entertainment, historical, political, and religious propaganda, but by whom and for what agenda?

What methods are being used to desensitize/condition us to accept various forms of propaganda, and what/who is the source of it?
What vital information is propaganda distracting us from?
Has our society become too dependent on the media's(news, television etc.) information, and at what point do we take initiative, research information for ourselves and use discernment?

GOALS FOR THE ASSIGNMENT:

In depth understanding of how society is being controlled.

In depth understanding of who we're being controlled by, to what extent, and for what reasons.

Learn more about history. (are old subversion tactics presently being used to control the masses?)

Know specific information about major events that are surfaced.

Through knowledge of hidden information/propaganda I am less susceptible of using my art to promote it. (now/future reference/future business endeavors etc.)

Go beyond questioning what I'm unsure about, research my inquiries and use discernment. From there, accept or reject information, or continue researching.

  1. This sounds a lot along the lines that I've been thinking as well. I have a couple books you could check out and look at russian propaganda and American propaganda during WWII. Just out of curiosity see if you can't find any modern day propaganda sponsored by the US government, such as when you walk through the Air port and that voice tells you that the National Threat Level has risen to the same point it was at before.

  2. Modern Day Propaganda - just go to a Malco movie theater and sit through the 25 minutes of commercials and propaganda "music videos". Let's see, I have tried desperately to block them from my mind but wasn't one "Citizen Soldier" or something and wasn't there one by Kid Rock?

  3. i like your topic alot. i like the direction it has taken from your last project proposal. i think you should continue to roll with your rebel idea an political incorrectness. im very interested in seeing at least some small aspects of it. i actually my focus on this idea in the future

  4. This makes me think of societies choice to have their minds controlled. It seems like alot of the systems that are set in place and subscribed to by the mass majority are done so in a voluntary manner. People like to be controlled but they don't like to know they are being controlled. Face Book for example, we voluntarily give our private information , pictures, and schedules to this company and they make money off of displaying our private information. Granted we can make these accounts private and use this site in many different ways, but the majority don't uses the privacy settings and all there information is out there as a tangible product for face book to use as a way to get advertisers to buy ads on the site. I think this is a very broad idea that may be too difficult to articulate in this comment, but I do suggest you think about this a bit.
